5 Dry Rub Recipes on Pellet Smoker

Dry rub recipes are one of the most loved and sought after dishes as they are not only easy to make but great in taste!

Let us start with the 5 best ones –

1. Rubbed Baby Back Ribs:

What all you will need:

  • Dark brown sugar
  • Seat salt
  • Spanish smoked paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Onion granules
  • Garlic granules
  • Ground cumin
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Ground nutmeg
  • 4 racks of baby ribs
  • 2 cups bbq sauce

Instructions:

  1. To prepare the rub, combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Remove silverskin from bone side of the ribs with a knife (recommended that you get it done by the butcher itself).
  3. Generously cover the ribs with the dry rub on both sides. Pat it, don’t rub harshly.
  4. Start the pellet grill and wait for it to establish fire with a lid on. Set the temperature to 250 degrees and preheat for about 15 minutes. For details on the top pellet grills, check out this great website.
  5. Put the ribs on the grates and cook until the meat is brown and tender. The meat will shrink from the sides a little. This will take about 3-4.5 hours.
  6. Remove the ribs from the pellet smoker/grill and rest for 10 minutes. Preheat the grill to 375 degrees again.
  7. Brush the ribs with the bbq sauce on both sides and grill again for about 10 minutes or fewer.
  8. Cut the ribs in half and serve!

2. Dry Rub Smoked Wings:

What you will need:

  • Water
  • Salt
  • Brown sugar
  • Garlic
  • Dry Thyme
  • Pepper flakes
  • Chicken wings
  • Onion granule
  • Chipotle pepper
  • Smoked paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Sweet Rub

Instructions:

  1. Take a large bowl and add water, salt, sugar, crushed garlic, thyme, and red pepper flakes, mix together. Add in the chicken wings too. Cover and put into the refrigerator to marinate for 24 hours.
  2. Then add brown sugar, onion granules, pepper flakes, chipotle pepper, smoked paprika, sea salt, sweet rub and garlic powder and mix well in another bowl.
  3. Take the wings out of the wet mixture and rinse it. Pat dry. Coat the chicken wings with the rub you made on both sides.
  4. Start the pellet smoker on smoke until us establish the fire.
  5. Place the wings and smoke for 1-2 hours.
  6. Set the temperature of the grill at 450 degrees and cook wings for 4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

3. Smoked Spicy Dry Rub Ribs:

What you will need:

  • 2 racks of ribs
  • 2 cups of apple juice
  • Smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Cumin
  • Ground coriander

Instructions:

  1. Start the smoker at 250 degrees and preheat with a closed lid for 10 minutes.
  2. Add all the dry ingredients together and mix well.
  3. Coat the ribs with the dry rub on both sides.
  4. Place them on the grill and smoke for 2 hours.
  5. Remove the ribs and wrap in 2 layers of foil.
  6. Pour apple juice over the wrapped ribs.
  7. Cook for 2 more hours.
  8. Serve it directly or rub with a choice of sauce and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes before serving.

4. Smoked Chicken Breast:

What will you need:

  • Boneless chicken breasts (skinless)
  • 2-3 tablespoon of BBQ chicken rub

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your pellet grill to about 250 degrees F.
  2. Place your chicken breast flat and coat it with the rub on both sides.
  3. Put them on the smoker. Close the lid and cook for about 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. (whichever is first)
  4. Remove from grill and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
  5. Pair it with a side of Caesar salad or grilled pineapples!

5. Spice Rub Pork Tenderloin:

What all you will need:

  • 2 lbs pork tenderloin
  • Dried oregano
  • Black pepper
  • Cumin
  • Chili powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • Kosher salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Brown sugar
  • Dry mustard
  • Olive oil
  • Cedar Planks

Instructions:

  1. Mix together all the dry items in a bowl along with brown sugar for the rub in a bowl.
  2. Soak the planks in water overnight.
  3. Drizzle little olive oil on the tenderloins and rub the spice mixture on it. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Start the smoker with at about 350 degrees F and preheat for 5-10 minutes, lid closed.
  5. Place the planks on the grill for 3 minutes.
  6. Flip the planks and keep the meat on the planks.
  7. Grill it for 20 minutes approx. (or until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees)
  8. Tent it with foil and rest for 5 minutes. Serve hot!
